Heroes come in all shapes and sizes, from all walks of life. Heroes wear many different hats. Heroes include military personnel, firefighters, police officers, paramedics. Heroes can be active or retired. Heroes can even include your neighbor down the street, whether doctor, lawyer, or mechanic or newspaper carrier. No single person can define a hero, a true hero, in a simple word or two. You cannot define a hero simply by their occupation. It is the person rather than the job that defines the hero; through their actions and commitments. Heroes put the safety and well-being of others in front of their own. Heroes strive to protect and to serve. We all know of someone who has acted heroically. Join Habitat for Humanity in honoring those heroes from all walks of life through support of our Heroes House. We will refurbish an existing house and dedicate it in name and admiration to the heroes of September 11 and all of the heroes in our lives. We invite you to join Habitat for Humanity of Washington County in the refurbishment of the Heroes House for a Washington County family. All military, firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and all others are invited to join this partnership.
