Development Director
Reports to: Executive Director
Employment Status: Full-time (exempt) - with benefits
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hrs/week (occasional evening and weekend activities required)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
PRIMARY ROLE
The Director of Development effectively directs all aspects of fund development and marketing to meet the program and operating needs for Habitat for Humanity of Washington County (HFHWC).
Key Areas of Responsibility
Overall Development:
· Develops and implements short-term and long-term fundraising plans.
· Serve as staff lead for fundraising committees and participates in meetings and operations as needed.
· Leverages established relationships with donors, volunteers, board members and colleagues to cultivate new sources of support.
· Provides income and expense projections for all development-related programs for inclusion on the organizational budget.
· Serve as an ambassador for HFHWC and makes presentations to groups as needed.
· Performs other additional tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
Donor Management:
· Plans, implements and evaluates all donor appeals to ensure retention of existing donors and cultivation of new donors.
· Develop Major Giving program building upon current constituents.
· Coordinates donor-related activities and recognition with other staff as necessary.
· Ensures donor database information is current and accurate. Provides and analyzes all reports associated with fundraising efforts.
· Ensures all donors are appropriately recognized in a timely manner.
· Assists other departments with securing in-kind support, including building materials, ReStore items, office supplies and
administrative/professional services.
Grants:
· Writes and renews current grants each cycle, as applicable.
· Research and write new grants according to organizational goals, planned construction activity and other needs as they arise.
· Ensures required grant compliance requirements are fulfilled and reports are timely and accurate.
Events:
· Provides leadership and attends all fundraising events and activities.
· Supports the fundraising components of other departments.
· Assists Dinner Auction, Project Playhouse and all fundraising committees in securing donations and acts as lead in soliciting sponsorships.
Marketing:
· Develops marketing strategy and plan.
· Create various marketing publications, including e-newsletters, advertisements, brochures and annual reports.
· Manages and updates website.
· Coordinates media releases with Executive Director.
· Maintains all social media sites and develop strategies to increase social media engagement.
· Coordinates ReStore marketing activities and supportive materials in coordination with ReStore manager.
· Develops digital media library.
Skills and Characteristics:
· Appreciation for HFHWC’s mission and core values.
· Firm understanding of fund development, especially grant writing.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong interpersonal skills dealing with a variety of people, personalities and backgrounds.
· Self-motivated with diligent organizational skills and follow-through.
· Attention to details and adherence to deadlines.
· Cooperative and supportive team player.
· Understanding of marketing concepts and social media sites.
· Computer skills, especially with Microsoft Suite applications.
Experience:
· Minimum 3 years of fundraising experience
· Minimum 3 years of demonstrated successful grant writing
· Experience with Salesforce or similar donor management system
· Experience with event planning and marketing
Education:
· Bachelor’s Degree preferred
